Postdawn Nurseries is a small company based west of the St. Louis area. It is currently both a small record label and a software development firm, and very independent in both cases, in that it is essentially run by one person, Christopher Maples. The label caters to the experimental taste, the atmospheric desire, the blissfully mysterious ephemera of electronics and electro-acoustics merging in the company of psychological hubris, or to put it more bluntly, our music is beautifully strange. We also develop software of the highest standards, which is efficient, secure, and aesthetically pleasing to the user.
Postdawn Nurseries was started by Chris in 2000 as a personal webpage while living in southern New Mexico as a means to showcase his homebrew electronica and creative Synthedit-made VST plugins for audio production, as well as his love of the desert atmosphere which inspired these things. In 2005, he moved to a new server and started helping other ambient, experimental, and psychedelic artists get their feet on the ground. After another server move and a real-time move to Massachusetts, he decided to release the artists from their contracts, and devoted the label to music from himself and his closest friends.
